New 2015 Roses from the South of France

This Week’s Tasting

Dear Tasters and Friends of Spirits,
There will not be a tasting tomorrow night (April 7th, 2016).
As most of you are aware I am pregnant with our first child- it’s due in less than two weeks! We do not know the sex yet, so baby Bologna will be a surprise, but we will know very soon.
In light of the big changes ahead in our personal and business lives, Matthew and I have decided that we will take a temporary break from the weekly tastings. We will keep you posted with updates. Thank you for understanding!
Sincerely,
Jennifer & Matthew

New 2015 Roses from the South of France

Commanderie de Peyrassol Rose 2015
Cotes de Provence
“It carries a pale rose color, a lovely fruit blossom nose and finishes crisply dry with a stony touch that gives it class and elegance. The grape blend is usually Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah in varying percentages. The average age of the vines is 25 years or more. The Rosés of Peyrassol are made from the direct press method. The grapes undergo cold maceration before being pressed. This gives them their beautiful watermelon pink color. The fermentation takes place under controlled temperatures and is exceptionally long, resulting in rosés that are both lively, fresh and full-bodied.”

Chateau des Annibals Rose 2015
Provence
“Château des Annibals is owned by Natalie and Bernard Coquelle. The domain is managed primarily by Natalie who has a degree in agriculture and whose standards for farming are very high indeed. Herbicides and pesticides are strictly forbidden at Château des Annibals and respect for the land is of the highest priority. This rosé is 60% Cinsault and 40% Grenache, done in classic Provence style. It is bone dry with spare notes of raspberry and currant, with melon and shimmery acidity on the finish.”

My Essential Rose 2015
IGP Mediterranee
“A blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Cinsault, 18% Syrah, 1% Carignan, and 1% Mourvedre. The result is a pale pink wine that smells like red fruits and flowers yet is crisp, dry and ultra refreshing. One glass invites another, a wine that can very quickly become a bottle for one. Made from pressed grapes, not saignée.”
