Home Delivery Available October 2021
Alabama is an alcoholic beverage control state, which means that the state has a monopoly over the wholesaling of liquor. We purchase all liquor from the local ABC Store and are limited to the products that they carry. To learn more check out the Alabama ABC Board Website
As of October 2021, ABC Board-licensed businesses in the State of Alabama will be able to deliver wine, beer, and spirits to customer’s homes.
The bill (SB126) allows licensed in-state retailers only – package stores, grocery stores, wineries, breweries, distillers, restaurants, etc– to make alcohol home deliveries.
The measure allows the delivery of beer, wine, and spirits, but sets limits on the amounts that can be sold to a customer in any one day.
- Beer: canned or bottled beer, the maximum is 120 12-ounce containers. For draft beer, it’s 288 ounces.
- Wine and Spirits: it’s 9,000 milliliters (about 304 ounces).
Businesses with on-premises licenses, such as restaurants, cannot exceed 375 ml of alcoholic beverages, and the delivery must also be accompanied by a meal.
All delivery employees will be subject to criminal background checks and fingerprinted, as well as undergo training to help them identify underage or intoxicated individuals and faked or altered IDs. They must require each recipient provide a valid photo ID to confirm the person is 21 or older, and that the recipient sign for the order. If the recipient cannot prove his or her age or appears intoxicated, the delivery person must return the alcoholic beverage purchase to the retailer. The purchase cannot be left unattended under any circumstance.
