The Beers are Back in Town

Friends, as we at Spirits put away our shorts and reach for our favorite hoodies, the same goes for our beers. The South American and European Pale Lagers are fading away with summer and are being replaced with spiced beers like Blue Moon’s Harvest Pumpkin Ale and Ür-Marzen beers (Oktoberfests), like the traditional Spaten Oktoberfest and its American counterparts like Shiner Oktoberfest. These fall seasonals are tasty and spicy and often offer much more complexity than the light, thirst-quenching summer beers.

Already at Spirits we have a large selection of fall seasonal brews. The Oktoberfest varieties on our shelves include The Sam Adams, Sprecher, Shiner and Leinenkugel Oktoberfests; Magic Hat’s Hex “Ourtoberfest”; and the Choc “Choctoberfest”. In terms of spiced and darker beers we have the Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale, Sierra Nevada Tumbler (as well as their Stout and Porter), Guinness Black Lager, Boulevard Dark Truth Stout, the Napa Smith Crush, and Cigar City’s “Black Whole”. We also feature some exciting seasonal ciders like the Foggy Ridge First Fruit and Sweet Stayman Ciders from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, as well as the Woodchuck Fall Hard Cider.

I encourage you to celebrate our cooler weather with one of these beautiful seasonal beers. As you sit on your back porch this evening, pop open an Oktoberfest and see what the buzz is all about, six hundred years of German tradition can’t be wrong. Until next time tasters, good-bye and good beer.

Cheers,
Nathan
