The specific wines for the tasting are:
J. de Villebois Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2021- Loire Valley, France.
Pale green-yellow in color, the Touraine Sauvignon Blanc has a subtle bouquet of ripe fruit aromas on the nose, a big and smooth structure, minerality, and a great length. A great example of a Touraine Sauvignon Blanc grown on flinty soils and harvested at perfect maturity. $15.99
Chateau de la Ragotiere Muscadet 2021- Loire Valley, France.
Made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. Broad, round and rich, this wine holds its freshness close to its core. The vines are between 40 to 60 years old and find firm footing in mica-schist soils that give rise to fruit that is focused, persistent and clean. A bit of bottle age brings amplified expression and targeted concentration. $15.99
August Kesseler “R” Riesling Kabinett 2021- Pfalz, Germany.
August Kesseler’s everyday sipping wine is fruity, mineral-driven, and well-balanced. Typical flavors of ripe fruits, such as aromatic apples and peaches. It is structured and delightful as well. In the mouth, the interaction of mouth-watering fruits and minerals are positively shimmering; it is very delicate and refreshing on the palate. $13.99
Caparzo Rosso di Montalcino 2021- Tuscany, Italy.
Caparzo’s Rosso di Montalcino DOC is made from Sangiovese grapes from their vineyards to the north and south of Montalcino. The microclimates of the different zones allow them to obtain consistent quality from vintage to vintage. A worthy alternative to Brunello di Montalcino for the discerning consumer, the Rosso di Montalcino is harmonious, elegant, savory, and pairs well with a variety of foods. $21.99
Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2020- Rhone Valley, France.
A blend of: 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah, 20% Cinsault. The nose reveals a beautiful freshness and a seductive aromatic bouquet combining notes of red fruit, spices and white pepper with a hint of perfectly integrated toasted vanilla. Full-bodied and very soft, the palate presents a very nice balance with freshness and aromas of black cherry jam. The finish is long with a beautiful aromatic intensity and velvety tannins. A wine of great elegance with good aging potential. $29.99
Warre’s Otima 10-Year Tawny Port- Portugal.
Otima 10-year old Tawny Port reveals a medium ruby/amber/garnet color; loads of kirsch and cedar aromas are intermixed with a touch of brown sugar on the nose. The palate offers rich, full-bodied flavors, a burgeoning complexity, and big aromatics. This is a full-bodied, silky smooth Tawny Port that should age easily for 8-10+ years. $33.99 (500ml bottle)
