Our wine tastings are held every Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30pm at Spirits Wine Cellar located in The Shops of Lake Tuscaloosa. We pour at least 6 wines, which are always different (no repeats aside from new vintages) and in most cases represent either a common theme or an interesting contrast between the bottles, thereby helping us to examine the finer points of the individual wines. The tastings are conducted in a casual, informal setting (no speeches), but we always have multiple experts on hand to contribute as much as each patron might desire. We do offer a simple printout to each attendee with a list of the wines and corresponding tasting notes; beyond that we’re happy to let each taster go at his or her own pace. So while we’re passionate about wine, we certainly value the social aspect of our tastings and enjoy the camaraderie that has developed among our regulars. The weekly tastings cost $5 per person with $5 off any purchase made that night.
In addition to our regular Thursday tastings, we host several bigger tasting throughout the year, including our annual Holiday Wine Tasting which featured over 250 wines to sample in 2014. Other tastings might feature a winemaker showing off his entire portfolio or an importer pouring a large swath of his many selections.
